Located within the recently opened Brasserie Boulud on the Upper West Side, Épicerie Boulud is Chef Daniel Boulud’s French bakery and café, offering pastries, artisan breads, sandwiches, coffee, and specialty retail products.
Position Summary
The Assistant General Manager – Retail supports the daily operations of Épicerie Boulud, focusing on retail sales, merchandising, inventory management, and exceptional guest service. Working closely with the General Manager, this individual will lead the retail team, maintain product presentation standards, and drive sales while upholding the quality and hospitality standards of The Dinex Group.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee daily retail operations, ensuring product quality, freshness, and attractive merchandising.
- Monitor inventory, ordering, product rotation, and waste reduction.
- Drive sales through product knowledge, suggestive selling, and excellent customer service.
- Assist with staff recruitment, training, scheduling, and performance management.
- Monitor sales, labor costs, and inventory levels to support financial goals.
- Ensure compliance with company standards, food safety regulations, and cleanliness requirements.
- Collaborate with the General Manager and culinary team to maintain smooth daily operations.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of supervisory or management experience in retail, specialty food, bakery, café, or upscale hospitality.
- Experience with merchandising, inventory management, and sales performance.
- Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment with a strong attention to detail.
- Flexible availability, including mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- NYC Food Protection Certificate preferred, or willingness to obtain.
