About the Position

ABC Sheet Metal is seeking an experienced Sales Engineer to join our aerospace manufacturing team. This position combines technical sales, manufacturing estimating, and account management, working directly with customers to develop quotations, manage existing accounts, and secure new business.

We are an AS9100D-certified, ITAR-registered manufacturer specializing in precision sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, welding, and fabricated assemblies for aerospace, defense, and space applications.

Previous sales experience is not required. We welcome experienced engineers looking to transition into technical sales. Training in our sales and estimating processes is provided.

Responsibilities

  • Manage existing customer accounts and develop new business opportunities.
  • Review engineering drawings, 3D models, GD&T, materials, and specifications to determine manufacturing requirements.
  • Prepare accurate quotations covering materials, labor, tooling, machining, fabrication, and outside processing.
  • Communicate with customer engineers, purchasing departments, and suppliers regarding pricing, technical requirements, and project status.
  • Follow up on quotations, negotiate opportunities, and convert quotes into orders.
  • Coordinate with engineering, production, quality, and purchasing to resolve technical issues and meet customer requirements.
  • Support CAD, manufacturing planning, reverse engineering, and engineering changes as needed.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Aerospace, Industrial, or Materials Engineering; Physics, Applied Physics, Engineering Physics, or a closely related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of combined professional experience in manufacturing engineering, aerospace engineering, applications engineering, or technical sales within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing processes, materials, tolerances, and engineering principles.
  • Ability to interpret engineering blueprints, 3D CAD models, and GD&T.
  • SolidWorks proficiency and working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work full-time, on-site in Anaheim, CA.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Aerospace manufacturing experience involving sheet metal fabrication, CNC machining, welding, or mechanical assemblies.
  • Experience with manufacturing cost estimating, technical sales, account management, or project coordination.
  • Familiarity with AS9100, first article inspection, material traceability, and outside processing.
  • Experience with Autodesk Inventor, Mastercam, or other CAD/CAM software.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Potential annual total compensation: $80,000–$175,000, consisting of base salary plus earned commission.
