About this position

PATHFINDER ONCOLOGY, INC.

Bioinformatics Operations & Genomics Analyst / Senior Bioinformatics Operations Analyst

Translational Immuno-Oncology - Genomics Operations, Data Review & AI-Assisted Analysis

Company: Pathfinder Oncology, Inc. (PFO)

Location: Chapel Hill, North Carolina (hybrid) or remote (US)

Reports To: VP of Computational Biology

Level: M.S. with 5+ years, or Ph.D. with 2+ year (title and compensation commensurate with experience)

Pathfinder Oncology, Inc. (PFO) - - is a dynamic oncology company headquartered in Chapel Hill, North Carolina. Our thesis is that long-term, exceptional outcomes in metastatic cancer require the activation and harnessing of anti-tumor immunity.

We partner directly with patients, pairing a concierge-style care model with highly tailored, often first-of-their-kind treatments: bespoke mRNA and peptide vaccines built from tumor-specific genomic and proteomic profiles, personalized TCR-T cell therapies, and pathway-based regimens. Our team spans drug development, multi-omics interpretation, and compassionate patient care.

Position Summary

The Bioinformatics Operations & Genomics Analyst is responsible for executing PFO’s patient-specific projects, coupling high scientific standards and urgency. The role owns the path from a vendor's raw data delivery to a reviewed, reportable result that will impact the patient treatment strategy: data in the door with its provenance intact, established immunogenomics workflows run against a clinical clock, every output reviewed before it informs a design decision, and results turned into the reports on which the company acts.

No two cases arrive the same way, so the work is operational without being routine. This is not a methods-development role, and not a pipeline-babysitting one. The central skill is judgment: knowing what a good result looks like and stopping a bad one before it reaches a physician. The second is leverage: using automation and AI agents to carry many concurrent cases without dropping any.

Key Responsibilities

Data Operations

Own intake for WES/WGS, RNA-seq, and single-cell deliveries — transfer, checksum verification, provenance, and registration in PFO's data ledger. Maintain per-patient tracking so every result traces to the reads that produced it, and manage storage lifecycle, cost, and access.

Pipeline Execution

Run PFO's immunogenomics workflows on cloud infrastructure: alignment, QC, somatic calling, copy number and purity, expression, HLA typing, and neoantigen prediction. Resolve job failures and keep configurations, reference bundles, and container versions pinned so any case reproduces exactly, months later, by someone else.
