Salary Range: $70,500.00 - $130,900.00
POSITION OVERVIEW:
We are seeking a Mechanical Integration Engineer to support the design, development, and integration of mechanical systems, components, and subsystems for advanced aerospace and defense applications. The successful candidate will contribute to mechanical interface development, 3D modeling, engineering design trade studies, and system-level integration while ensuring hardware meets technical requirements, quality standards, cost objectives, and project schedules.
This role requires a strong foundation in mechanical engineering principles, CAD modeling, engineering drawings, and multidisciplinary collaboration. The engineer will work closely with design, systems, manufacturing, and program management teams to resolve technical challenges and support the development and integration of complex mechanical systems.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
- Research, plan, design, develop, and integrate mechanical products, components, and electromechanical systems.
- Develop mechanical interfaces for vehicle subsystems, equipment, and associated components.
- Perform mechanical design trade studies to evaluate design alternatives, technical feasibility, performance, and integration requirements.
- Create and maintain interface control drawings, assembly models, subassembly designs, and system-level engineering documentation using Creo Parametric or similar CAD software.
- Apply engineering principles to support mechanical design, analysis, testing, and hardware integration activities.
- Interpret engineering drawings, technical specifications, and design requirements to ensure accurate implementation of mechanical interfaces.
- Perform basic engineering analyses, dimensional assessments, and tolerance stack-up evaluations to support design verification and integration.
- Apply Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles to support design accuracy, manufacturability, and component compatibility.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to identify and resolve mechanical integration challenges.
- Communicate technical information, design updates, risks, and project status to internal stakeholders and program management.
- Support hardware development activities while maintaining established cost, schedule, quality, and performance objectives.
- Manage multiple engineering assignments and priorities while adhering to applicable engineering standards and processes.
- Utilize AI-assisted tools, where appropriate, to support engineering research, documentation, and problem-solving.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related engineering discipline, with at least two years of relevant professional experience; alternatively, a related master's degree with no prior professional experience may qualify.
- Knowledge of mechanical design, component integration, and engineering fundamentals.
- Experience or academic coursework in mechanical design techniques, engineering drafting, and technical drawing interpretation.
- Experience with Creo Parametric or comparable 3D modeling and CAD software.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Secret security clearance.
- U.S. citizenship required.
DESIRED SKILLS:
- Approximately two years of experience in solid modeling using Creo Parametric, preferably Creo 4.0 or a comparable CAD platform.
- Experience developing mechanical assemblies, interface control drawings, and subsystem integration designs.
- Familiarity with engineering analysis methods, dimensional analysis, and tolerance stack-ups.
- Knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T).
- Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary engineering and product development teams.
- Ability to manage multiple assignments, competing priorities, and stakeholder requirements simultaneously.
- Active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Proficiency in AI prompting and the practical application of AI tools to engineering research, technical documentation, and problem-solving.
