Position Summary
Double Down Heavy Repair is seeking an experienced Shop Mechanic for our Elko shop. This position involves diagnosing, servicing, and repairing a wide variety of light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles and equipment. The ideal candidate enjoys varied work, troubleshoots problems thoroughly, and takes pride in completing safe, quality repairs.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair trucks, light-duty vehicles, and heavy equipment.
- Troubleshoot diesel and gas engines, drivetrains, electrical systems, hydraulics, and other mechanical systems.
- Repair or replace engines, transmissions, differentials, axles, and driveline components.
- Perform inspections, preventive maintenance, and scheduled service.
- Use diagnostic tools, service manuals, and schematics to identify problems and plan repairs.
- Document repairs accurately and communicate work status with the team.
- Support field mechanics when repairs require shop resources.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe shop.

- Strong mechanical troubleshooting and repair skills.
- Ability to diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues.
- Ability to use diagnostic equipment and interpret technical service information.
- Ability to work independently and collaborate with other mechanics.
- Commitment to safety, quality workmanship, teamwork, and accountability.
Education and Experience
- Hands-on experience as a diesel, heavy equipment, automotive, or fleet mechanic.
- Experience working on light-, medium-, and heavy-duty vehicles or equipment.
- Experience with engines, transmissions, and drivetrains is especially valuable.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
Work Schedule
Multiple schedules are available. Specific options will be discussed during the hiring process based on shop needs and candidate availability.
Compensation and Benefits
- Hourly pay range: $35–$55, based on experience and qualifications.
